Meet Our School Council
Pupil Voice at Keresley Newland Primary Academy
Our School Council are responsible for upholding the values, expectations and high standards we have as a school. As per our British Values, we are a democratic team and were all voted into these positions by our peers. We also heavily promote our School Values such as Courtesy; through listening to each other’s views, respecting these and challenging/suggesting alternatives politely and diplomatically.
Who are we?
Year 2 – Imogen and Myles;
Year 3 – Summer and Diana;
Year 4 – Karini and Benjamin;
Year 5 – Charlie, Taylor and Amber;
Year 6 – Keziah, Aurora and Maddie.
When do we meet?
School Council meetings take place fortnightly and are overseen by Mrs Hims. We take turns in ‘Chairing’ and ‘minuting’ each meeting and also assign short-term roles, responsibilities and key deliverables based upon our agreed action plan or next steps.
What are our aims?
- To make sure that our school is a safe and happy place for children;
- To make sure that children have a place to voice their opinions, thoughts and concerns;
- To encourage all children in the school to suggest improvements.
